If your Canadian you know The Rankin Family from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I served in The RCN stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia aboard HMCS Athabaskan. The world lost another member of the famous Clan of artists. Today Raylene Rankin lost her battle with cancer, The world has lost a beautiful voice. Raylene is singing with the Angels in Heaven now. I’m so saddened by this.
We saw The Rankins during their Reunion Tour , Sept. 8, 2007. Being front was so special. It was a show I had to go to. I had all their CD’s, Their special Canadian Folk, Cape Breton Style Irish Music moved my soul. Red Robinson’s Show Theatre in Coquitlam ( Vancouver) B.C. was pretty new then. The show was fabulous but we missed John’s presence. His daughter Molly performed with The Rankin Family in his memory and she has her father’s talent for sure ! She fiddles amazingly. It was such a great show. I had wanted to see them all again. Watch this youtube video. It is GREAT !

I hope the Rankin Family knows their music is timeless and has created so very much joy in the lives of so many people everywhere. They are true givers and Raylene will be missed terribly. Let all Canadians and everyone know We were so very well off to have had Raylene Rankin in our lives, our hearts and our favorite Canadiana Folk, Celtic music. I, having Irish Blood running through my veins makes wants me to celebrate her life as The Irish do. Cheers, I celebrate the joy you gave the world ! Sing beautifully Angel Raylene. May we meet in Heaven so I can hear you sing again.
Time to put on Grey Dusk Of Eve. I was able to get over my father’s passing with this 1995 album back in 1999.
Heaven has a Hell Of A Band ! Time is so short. Love and family and friends is so important.

Right on Paul, seen them in abbotsford in 1995 and fell in love with Raylene especially. She was always my favorite. As a born and bred caper very proud of them.

Share the Joy, Share The Sorrow. It was a sad day yesterday. I know two Tom Power(s). One from Kitchener Ont. ( Once a drummer for a band called Dome or Jettison late 1970’s) That I also attended highschool with, another someone I met in Surrey B.C.
